In April of this year I went to my first-ever convention, the Calgary Comic Expo. I attended the James Marster’s concert (Spike from Buffy.) Opening for James, was a band I was previously not familiar with. In this case, the opener was just as great as the main act, if not better—sorry James.
Kirby Krackle, is a nerd rock band from Seattle, Washington. Their catchy beats and cute lyrics make them instantly loveable. It’s good music to escape to. We all love video games, (if you say you don’t you’re lying) and it’s awesome to hear songs discussing our favourite characters.
In Another Castle
“ I’ve been riding flagpoles to make you mine
I’ve been collecting coins since the birth of time
You’ve always been my main attraction
Sweet Peach you’re my satisfaction
And underwater chasing squid into the great below
Stomped every single koopa so that you know
hope that you still have that pink dress
My one and only little blond haired princess
But what the hell is this? You’re in another castle it would seem
I’m getting sick of this, the truth, are you avoiding me?
So please a touch, a sign, to show me that you’re mine
My heart breaks more when I find out every time
A mushroom head tells me that you’re nowhere to be seen
I wonder if you think that my clothes are strange
Or wearing overalls every single day
The dirty biz my job entails
Saving you wearing raccoon tails
When I’m spending time with my younger bro
He always asks me why and I never know
I put my life in danger for you
Probably cuz one day I hope to…
Hey what the hell is this? You’re in another castle it would seem
I’m getting sick of this, the truth, are you avoiding me?
So please a touch, a sign, to show me that you’re mine
My heart breaks more when I find out every time
A mushroom head tells me that you’re nowhere to be seen “

I love this band. Although I was late to join the fan party, I am sure glad I did. In a way, it is cool to be one of the late fans. That way you have a catalogue of music just waiting for you. Kirby Krackle has released three albums, a self titled debut, E For Everyone and Super Powered Love. All three albums are equally amazing, these songs are sure to entertain and keep you smiling.
Recently, a cover of Somewhere Over The Rainbow was posted for fans. Amazing cover. One of the best versions of this song I have ever heard.
