Frankenweenie Unleashed
October is such a fun time of year. The transition from summer greenery to the dead season welcomes all things that go bump in the night. Horror films fill the television line-ups, and movie theaters. October 2012 is shaping to be one of the best seasons for Halloween films as of yet!
Only one word is needed to stir your excitement for this October: Frankenweenie!
Nearly three decades after the release of the original Frankenweenie, Tim Burton has resurrected his beloved story. This time, a better reaction is guaranteed. In 1984, Burton was a junior animator at Disney; he was subsequently fired for making a live-action short– Frankenweenie, which was about a boy and his dead dog. This time around, he has joined forces with Disney to present a black and white, stop-motion 3D version of his fantasy.
Helping to bring his dream to reality are the rounded cast of actors: Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Winona Ryder, Martina Landau and Charlie Tahan—this film is sure to be an instant classic.
Disney’s Frankenweenie will hit theaters on October 5th, to stir up excitement for the film the Frankweenie Unleashed soundtrack has preceded the film release. September 25th the recording filled with songs inspired by the film was released.
The folks at Disney managed to pull in some huge names in the music industry for the accompanying soundtrack to Tim Burton’s latest cinematic feature The soundtracks enlists the services of indie pop luminaries like Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Mark Foster of Foster The People, Kimbra, Plain White T’s, Grace Potter featuring The Flaming Lips, Robert Smith of The Cure and more!
All those artists, in one album–now, this is an album to be excited about!
This is the perfect release to begin October with. The album has a Halloween-feel to it; so it is great to transition to the season of spooks with this album on repeat on your iPod. As a die-hard Cure fan I was ecstatic to see Robert Smith’s name on the roster. His song does not disappoint. Every song on the album brings something unique to the table. It is definitely one not to miss.
Kimbra’s track brings extra excitement to the storyline of the film. Entitled ‘With My Hands’, Kimbra’s brand new recording handily follows the theme of the movie’s plot, with lines like ’I’ll raise you from the dead/because I don’t want to be alone again’ and the vow to ‘put you back together with my own hands’ cleverly echoing the storyline of the film in which a young boy named Victor resurrects his beloved pooch Sparky back to life through a madcap science experiment.
Be sure to treat your ears to the sounds of Frankenweenie Unleashed, and on October 5th treat all your senses to the film release of Frankenweenie! ‘Tis the season for all things creepy!
