Le Manoir Du Diable (The Haunted Castle)

Le Manoir Du Diable–The Manor of The Devil  is an exceptional piece of work for its time. This 1896 silent short film is often credited as being the first horror production created by film pioneer George Melies. The film contains many traditional pantomime elements and was intentionally meant for amusement, rather than fear. This is not only the first horror film, it is the first vampire film.

In English this film has been known as The Haunted Castle, The Devil’s Castle, The Devil’s Manor, The Manor of the Devil and The House of the Devil. Creepy titles! Check out this piece of cinematic history:
