Poetry: Road To Happiness

poetry

Road to happiness

I once coveted
The ability of those
Who could smile
Find peace within
During every struggle life hurled at them

It’s no longer envy
It’s admiration
It’s pride

Awe at the endurance of the human spirit
Gratification in the self worth of humanity

I have learned
The road to happiness
Is one we make the choice to travel on

It is filled with change
It is filled with bravery

Leaving our comfort
Leaving our sadness

In the distant roads behind

I want to live each day
I want to love each moment
I want to cherish each experience

With grace
With dignity
With hope

Weaved together
Seamlessly with pride
I will follow my own road
To happiness

Blending the hardships and woes
With victories and strengths

To be clearheaded
Enough to focus on the positive
Let it overcome the negative

To live
To mold my face

With happiness
Infectious joy

This is my wish
This is the path of my life
