As soon as I see, David Lubar’s name on a book—I know it is going to a be an immediate 5 star read. Lubar has brilliantly crafted his own signature style of reading that enthralls the reader. His stories are charming, witty, frightening and often, hilarious. I adore how imaginative and creative his mind is. I am truly thankful that Lubar shares his stories with the world, they can brighten up any day.

Now, down to business.

Wireless Weenies touches on everything from bullies, to wereturtles. Yep, you read that correct—wereturtles, how brilliant and innovative is that? Everyone has wrote about werewolves, but wereturtles? I think this is a first!

The opening zombie tale was a very ‘cutesy’ style of story. I found myself giggling over this creative tale and the family’s crazy antics.

Dead Meat reminded me of ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’ Substituting deli meats instead of plants of course.

Lubar does a cheeky take on bullying. I think this tale may have actually been my favourite. It delivered everything you could possibly want, the big bad bullies being put in their places and aliens. Oh, and can’t forget to mention the winter hat! (Read the story, trust me it’s outrageously fun).

Gothic Horrors was another fun school based tale. We see a wannabe goth girl whom betrays the goth clique and gets a powerful punishment.

Lubar brings to light the age old aphorism ‘don’t swim directly after eating,’ with Swim Safety. A young girl had just finished eating peanut butter and it’s so punny that a jellyfish is attracted to her because of the scent of peanut butter. Yes, punny.

After reading this anthology, I realized, we truly have become weenies that solely rely on technology. Wireless Weenies was FANTASTIC. Not only was it good for a laugh and a smile, it really stirred up some emotion and makes you think just how much of our society, and our lives is controlled by technology.

I loved this collection of stories. Lubar always delivers to readers, and these stories are absolutely superb.
