Harry Moon Halloween Nightmares By Mark Andrew Poe
Published: September 5th 2017
While other kids are out trick-or-treating, eighth-grade magician Harry Moon is flying on a magic cloak named Impenetrable. Harry and Rabbit speed past severed hands, boiling cauldrons, and graveyard witching rituals on their way to unravel a decade-old curse at the annual Sleepy Hollow Halloween Bonfire. With “do no evil” his motto, Harry goes to battle with the sinister Mayor Kligore and Oink, a demon dog. Halloween night becomes the fight and nightmare of Harry Moon’s young life.
This book had a very Harry Potter feel to it – and I loved it! I think readers will impulsively connect children and magic to the world of Harry Potter now that those stories are so commonplace. So, with that being said – this book had unique characters and a fantastic premise. One may even say it’s a bit fantastical :p
The illustrations added to the stories and made the chapters jump off the pages. This silly storyline was everything I never knew I needed. A fun Halloween ride – very different from the oh-so-serious Halloween stories I am used to reading.
