Ever since my mom was murdered, I’ve been completely alone. I live in the shadows, because there’s no one like me. I have no choice because I have to fight the Hunger, the Hunger that drives me to hunt people and eat their souls. And I have to fight it if I want to stay out of the darkness.

Who am I?

I’m Meda Melange.

What am I?

I don’t know—but I’m not human.

And now, I finally have the chance to find out.

In this first book of the gripping Soul Eater trilogy, find out who Meda is and which side she will come down on in a thrilling tale of the war between good and evil.

Meda may just be the best protagonist I have ever encountered in a YA series. Yes she is aggressive and vicious, but she owns it. There is no poor Meda party. In many other books where the protagonist is darkly flawed, the whole story reads as a sob story begging to feel bad for the protagonist.

Media is who she, and that’s all there is to it.

She has such a strong, bold persona—it really doesn’t matter that it isn’t a nice one. She’s a character you love, because she is so refreshing and different from every other teenage girl. Most YA focus on the male being the big-bad-wolf, so it was awesome to see Meda, queen bee of the madhouse.

I had to giggle. Meda only kills those who deserve it, similar to America’s favourite serial killer Dexter…maybe Meda and Dexter could join forces and rid the world of all the baddies? Yes, ridiculous.

This was a pretty dark read, and I loved it. The story weaved seamlessly and it was hard to put the book down.

I can’t wait to see more snark, more attitude, and dare I say? More Meda kills in the next entry.

Outstanding first entry in what is sure to be a killer series. Yes, I said killer, no pun was intended.

Next step? Sharing this fantastic book with all of my friends.
