Halloween Horror: A Nightmare on Elm Street

My absolute favourite slasher film is Wes Craven’s 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street. This film was the beginning of the Freddy Krueger franchise. The plot is insane. Revolving around several teenagers who are stalked and killer in their dreams by Freddy Krueger.  The parents of the Elm street kids burned Freddy alive many years before the dreams began. In life, Freddy was a child killer…in death he is evil incarnated. Freddy is the perfect villain. He has motive, charisma and a sharp wit….He scares and entertains at the same time! Every horror movie has a theme song, a few easily recognizable chords, or piano keys–but Freddy, is a cut above the rest, there is a Nightmare theme song, and a nursery rhyme!

In 2017, this is the current list of the films in the Nightmare franchise: Needless to say, the first entry in the list is the original Nightmare on Elm Street film.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985)

A teenage boy is haunted in his dreams by Freddy Krueger who is out to possess him to continue his murdering in the real world.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)Survivors of undead serial killer Freddy Krueger – who stalks his victims in their dreams – learn to take control of their own dreams in order to fight back. This entry in the franchise has without a doubt, the most horrific kill scene…

Check it out:

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

Freddy Krueger returns once again to terrorize the dreams of the remaining Dream Warriors, as well as those of a young woman who may know the way to defeat him for good.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989)Alice, having survived the previous installment of the Nightmare series, finds the deadly dreams of Freddy Krueger starting once again. This time, the taunting murderer is striking through the sleeping mind of Alice’s unborn child. His intention is to be “born again” into the real world. The only one who can stop Freddy is his dead mother, but can Alice free her spirit in time to save her own son?

A Nightmare on Elm Street 6: Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)Freddy Krueger returns once again to haunt both the dreams of his daughter and Springwood’s last surviving teenager.

Wes Craven’s New Nightmare aka New Nightmare / Freddy’s New Nightmare (1994)A demonic force has chosen Freddy Krueger as its portal to the real world. Can Heather play the part of Nancy one last time and trap the evil trying to enter our world?

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees return to terrorize the teenage population. Except this time, they’re out to get each other, too.

A Nightmare on Elm Street the remake (2010)A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.
